Joseba Elorza AKA MiraRuido illustrations are a fluid commingling of two mediums – digital collage and illustration – one that tells a story and the other a process of using found imagery to create new intersections of reality.
These pictures feed off each other creating a peculiar aesthetic that is incredibly cinematic, the colours and clever use of imagery exciting, vivid and dramatic. And while there is a heightened visual effect in many of these collages Elorza’s art can be firmly placed in the Surrealist tradition, his work a play on common surreal motifs and the paintings of his fellow countryman Salvador Dali.
This intriguing juxtaposition of old and new, analog and digital, dreamscape and reality gives Elorza’s illustrations an overwhelming visual impact that demand to be writ large, want to be heard, are the final act in a surrealist play.
